Southern Reduced Sugar Bread Pudding

 

Reduced Sugar Southern Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

This is an easy to make reduced sugar version of a great southern recipe I found on the net.

Ingredients
  • 8 slices stale bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup raisins optional
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 2 cups half & half can substitute evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Melt butter (set aside).
  3. Cut the slices of bread into cubes.

  4. Beat eggs and add the maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and half & half and mix well.

  5. Lightly grease or butter aluminum pan or casserole baking dish.

  6. Toss bread cubes with melted butter and add bread and raisins to egg mixture.

  7. Pour egg mixture and everything into greased pan or dish.

  8. Place in the oven for 1 hour or until brown.
